Reports today are suggesting that Arsenal are going to try and sign Real Madrid stars, Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.
The Gunners have had a terrible summer so far, only making one new signing, despite letting 17 players leave the club. Arsenal have missed out on top transfer targets such as Luiz Gustavo, Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain.
A 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the new season has piled more pressure on manager, Arsene Wenger.
After admitting that signing Suarez is now impossible, Wenger has turned his sights onto the Real Madrid pair.
Wenger has tried to sign Benzema on several occasions in the past but it is believed that Madrid would be willing to selling the striker to Arsenal this time round, despite their shortage of striking options.
Arsenal are also feeling confident about signing Benzema’s teammate, Di Maria, who will more than likely be pushed out of the team by Gareth Bale.
With both Bale and Ronaldo in the same squad there is a chance that Di Maria could find himself on the bench quite often.
Both Benzema and Di Maria are top quality players and would improve Arsenal’s chances of winning trophies this season.
It is possible to make these rumours a reality, but Arsenal need to make Madrid a serious offer if they are going to pull these signings off.
Madrid will not be interested in silly offers from the Gunners (£10million for Cabaye), so Arsenal will need to be smart about it.
Do you guys think Arsenal can sign Benzema and Di Maria?
Yes, I think we can sign them, but it is unlikely we will get both. Di Maria is the more likely of the two I feel.
I think they would be able to capture Benzema for sure, Di Maria im doubtful. But me myself i would not want to pay the alleged 40 million price tag for Benzema, over-priced in my opinion.
I agree, Benzema does have his moments but is not consistent enough. £40million is too much for him!
In my mind… Arsenal need clinical. Benzema hasn’t shown any clinical edge will being at Real Madrid. Not enough goals when you think of the service he receives from that set of players.
