Autosport Show: WSR Racing confirm Andy Priaulx signing

West Surrey Racing have announced that three-time World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx, will be joining the team for the 2015 BTCC campaign.

The announcement was made this morning, on the main stage of the Autosport International show in Birmingham.

The 40-year-old will compete in the team’s BMW 125i M Sports, alongside fellow new signing, Sam Tordoff.

The deal between BMW and Priaulx also includes the Brit driving in the European Le Man Series and the North American Endurance Cup, meaning that he may miss the Rockingham BTCC rounds.

Priaulx has been away from the British Championship since the end of the 2003 season and has gone on to win the European Touring Car Championship in 2005 and the World Touring Car Championship for the following three years.

The Priaulx announcement was made alongside the reveal of a brand new livery for the team.

Gone is the striking Ebay sponsorship, which has been replaced with a predominately white livery with the odd bits or orange and red.

The main sponsor for the 2015 season is the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Rewards Club, who have supported Priaulx throughout his career.

The identity of the team’s third driver has yet to be announced but it is expected that 2014 champion, Colin Turkington, will keep his seat within the team.
