Saido Berahino selected for upcoming England matches

West Brom striker, Saido Berahino, has been called up to the England squad for the first time after his impressive start to the season.

The 21-year-old has scored seven goals so far this season, including goals against Liverpool against Manchester United.

Rumours of an England call-up have been circulating for weeks now and that fact that Daniel Sturridge is still out of action only helped the West Brom player’s chances of an international debut.

Berahino could make his debut against Slovenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley.

West Ham’s Stuart Downing was also called up into the squad for the first time since May 2012.

Downing has had an impressive season for the Hammers, who have surprised many with their early-season form.

Theo Walcott also walks straight back into the squad following his recovery from a knee injury that has kept him out for over 10 months.

Here is a look at the full England squad:

Goalkeepers – Joe Hart, Fraser Forster, Ben Foster

Defenders – Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Calum Chambers, Nathienel Clyne, Kieran Gibbs, Phil Jagielka, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling

Midfielders – Ross Barkley, Michael Carrick, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Raheem Sterling, Andros Townsend, Jack Wilshire, Theo Walcott

Strikers – Rickie Lambert, Saido Berahino, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck.

These players will take on Slovenia on November 15th before taking on Scotland in Glasgow on the 18th.

Being a United fans i definitely wouldnt have included him! He is a terrible player in my honest opinion and should not be playing for his country.

I think he’s better than he looks nowadays – but that’s true, he shouldn’t be selected.

And I have to admit, he haven’t been able to live up to my expectations…
