With the next WWE Pay-Per-view, Battleground, just a couple of days away it is time for me to make a few predictions about the main matches from the event.
As most people know, Battleground is not considered to be one of the most important or hyped up events, but the card does look promising.
Here are my first set of predictions:
Fatal Four-way WWE title match – John Cena Vs Randy Orton Vs Roman Reigns Vs Kane
Thanks to the blunder by Amazon week (Cena Vs Brock Lesnar SummerSlam poster) it seems all too clear that the champion will walk out of Battleground as the winner. This seems even more realistic following Paul Heyman’s ‘Plan C’ suggestion to the Authority this past week on Raw. Despite this, I still think that this can be an interesting match as we have many potential storylines that could explode into action. Unlike at the Money in the Bank PPV, it looks ever more likely that Kane will not serve as Orton’s henchman. The Devil’s Favourite Demon has made it clear that he does not like Orton and will now do whatever it takes to bring the title back to the Authority.. whether that be around his waist or Orton’s.
Then of course you have the ever spectacular Reigns, who is improving as a single’s competitor every week and is becoming more and more popular. Triple H does not want Reigns anywhere near the title, and I can easily see a situation where Reigns is about to win the title but is stopped thanks to an distraction by The Game. This in-turn will set up a blockbuster match between Reigns and Triple H at SummerSlam. In the end, Cena is more than likely come out on top yet again, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up on his back after celebrating his victory…. thanks to an F-5 from Lesnar
Winner: John Cena
Dean Ambrose Vs Seth Rollins
The feud between the two former Shield members has been thrilling to say the least and this is the match that I am looking forward to the most. Ever since Rollins turned his back on The Shield, Ambrose has been on a mission to make Rollins’ life hell. He has already prevented Rollins from cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on two separate occasions. Ambrose has really surprised me as a babyface and I am enjoying his new character persona. The reaction he got from the fans on Raw this week was one of the loudest I have heard in a long time. Both of these men are on the rise in WWE right now and this one is a tough one to call.
Both men have legitimate chances of winning but at the same time I don’t think that a loss will effect both men that much either. I imagine that this will be part one of the Ambrose V Rollins battle, with SummerSlam being the stage for a bigger match…. Just imagine the possibilities if you put these two men in a steel cage!!As for Battleground, I think that Rollins will come out on top, probably with some form of outside interference from Kane or Randy Orton.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Look out for part two of my predictions for WWE Battleground tomorrow!!
