It might be easy to forget after last night’s record-breaking match between Germany and Brazil, but there is another very important match tonight.
Holland and Argentina will go head-to-head for the right to face the Germans in the 2014 World Cup final.
Argentina, much like Brazil, have relied heavily on a single player to carry them through the competition. Lionel Messi has been Argentina’s only decent player to far, scoring four goals along the way.
They will need him more than ever tonight if they are to beat the hard-working Dutch side, especially now that Angel Di Maria is out of the tournament.
As for Holland, they have pushed their luck an awful lot ever since they thrashed Spain in their opening match.
They were pushed all the way by Australia in the groups stages before leaving it VERY late to beat the Mexicans in the second round.
Costa Rica then took Holland to penalties in the quarter-finals, with the Dutch winning thanks to substitute goalkeeper, Tim Krul, who was brought on in the final minute of extra-time by Louis Van Gaal.
Holland seem to prefer it when teams go on the attack against them rather than simply sitting back and allowing them to go forward. This is down to their excellent counter-attacking threat with Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie ready to pounce.
Both teams have battled very hard to make it this far, but who will make it to the final? Take the poll below and let me know your thoughts!
