Doncaster Rovers have been relegated from The Championship following some last minute drama in the second tier of English football.
Despite losing 1-0 to Leicester City, Rovers were still safe as their relegation rivals, Birmingham, were losing 2-1 against Bolton going into six-minutes of extra-time.
As the Doncaster fans and players both waited for the result to come in news began to circulate around the away end…. and it was not good news!
Birmingham had equalised through a Paul Caddis header, meaning that it was City who were now safe on goal difference.
This led to crazy celebrations in Bolton as the Birmingham City manager, Lee Clark, raced towards the travelling supporters to celebrate today’s achievement.
As for Doncaster, their players could not believe what had just happened to them as they stood looking dejected on the pitch.
Rovers will be playing League One football next season alongside Barnsley and Yeovil, who had already been relegated before today’s matches.
