The new Moto GP season starts this weekend and I for one cannot wait to see all of the bikes in action once more.
The 2013 season was a record-breaking one for one young rookie named Marc Marquez, who stormed to the championship title at his first attempt.
Marquez was a breath of fresh air in the sport last year and he certainly helped me to become interested once again after a couple of boring seasons.
His riding style is outstanding as he always pushes the bike to its limits, whilst looking like he is going to crash at every corner.
Jorge Lorenzo pushed him all the way last season on a Yamaha machine that was no where near as quick as Marquez’s Honda. If it wasn’t for his collarbone injury, Lorenzo could quite have easily gone on the win the title.
The same could be said for Dani Pedrosa, who once again suffered from an injury half-way through the season and never really recovered from the crash.
I expect all three to be challenging for the title again this year ,with the two experienced riders trying their hardest to stop the young kid Marquez from winning back-to-back titles.
On a personal note, I am hoping that Valentino Rossi has a much better season this year. It was great to see him win at Assen last season but apart from that one race he was well off the pace.
It was clear for all to see that those two years at Ducati had had a negative effort on his riding and he was always playing catch-up.
Along with the usual top four challengers, we now have Cal Crutchlow on the Ducati and Scott Redding on a production Honda. It will be interesting to see if Crutchlow can be the man to FINALLY bring Ducati back towards the front end of the grid.
With all of this in mind, who do you guys think will go on to win the title in 2014? Let me know in the poll below!
