In past hour, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Gareth Bale.
Spurs made the announcement on their official Twitter page.
Real Madrid have also announced that Bale will be unveiled as a Madrid player Monday lunchtime and paraded around the Bernabeu Stadium.
Specific details, such as the transfer fee and contract size have not yet been made public.
It is expected that the fee involved will be a new world record, beating the £80million that Madrid paid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009.
Spurs’ chairman, Daniel Levy, has told the club’s official website that it was now in the club’s best interest to sell Bale to Madrid.
“Such has been the attention from Real Madrid and so great is Gareth’s desire to join them, that we have taken the view that the player will not be sufficiently committed to our campaign in the current season.”
This transfer has dragged on all summer with Levy refusing to let Bale leave unless the deal met his demands.
Spurs also have also made sure that they are prepared for Bale’s departure, by signing the likes of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela.
In total, Spurs have spent around £110million this summer.
