Pepe Reina has today expressed his disappointment over the way in which his loan move to Napoli was handled by Liverpool.
The Spanish goalkeeper released an open letter to the Liverpool fans on his own personal website, expressing his views on the transfer.
Reina revealed that he wasn’t informed about his loan move to Napoli until a deal had already been agreed and finalised between the two clubs.
Despite rumours about an incoming Barcelona bid and the fact that Liverpool had signed Simon Mignolet from Sunderland, Reina always said he was willing for fight for his place and stay at Liverpool.
On the Barcelona bid, Reina said in the open letter that:
“When it didn’t come I was happy to fight for my place so I was surprised that Liverpool decided it was in the club’s interests to send me to Napoli instead.”
The keeper finished his letter by saying that he would love to come back to Liverpool after his loan expires and that he hopes Liverpool can return to their trophy winning days this season.
